MORIMURA Yasumasa + SAKASHITA Noriyuki

Japan

Profile

The room where Yasumasa Morimura, one of Japan's leading contemporary artists living in Osaka, and Noriyuki Sakashita, a day laborer from Kagoshima, met is exhibited as a room in Cocoroom. Sakashita's words were collected by Kanayo Ueda of Cocoroom and written into a book by a person associated with Kamagasaki. Cocoroom helped Morimura create a work of art dressed as Lenin in Kamagasaki in 2007. In 2012, Morimura  became an instructor of art at the Kamagasaki University of Arts and became the artistic director of the Yokohama Triennale 2014, in which Kamagei participated. In 2015, he established a graduate aesthetics society. Sakashita, 72 years old, met Cocoroom in 2011 and began participating in workshops on expression. His humorous storytelling attracts people and he appeared in the movie “Shuntaro Tanikawa, Please Make One Poem." He is also active in the Kamagasaki Kyogenkai and a trip to meet Itako in Hachinohe organized by Cocoroom.
