Kamagasaki Arts University opened in 2012 in Kamagasaki, Nishinari-ku, Osaka. It is run by the NPO Cocoroom. The city of Kamagasaki is treated as a university, and with the motto "if there are people who want to learn together, that's the university," the university holds about 80 to 100 courses a year, including astronomy, aesthetics, and choral singing, at various local facilities. In recent years, with the aging of the people living in Kamagasaki, the university has focused on memories and records, and is active as a "place for encounters and expression," as well as providing courses at nearby high schools and junior high schools and holding collaborative courses with Osaka University.
