あきらめへんで。釜ヶ崎アートセンター
釜ヶ崎は大阪市西成区北東の一部の地域をさしますが、地図にあるわけではありません。「釜ヶ崎」とは、人生のなかで寄る辺のない、ひとりぼっちのような気持ちの状況なのかもしれません。釜ヶ崎の片隅で、存在を認め合い、表現しあう場と機会があると、さまざまなおもしろいことが起こるんです。
アートNPOココルームは、補助金や制度などはなく、自らこの場を運営しています。2003年喫茶店のふりから始まり、芸術大学・ゲストハウスのふりも加わり、「であいと表現の場」を開き、20年余たちました。苦労のしみこんだ無名の人々の表現は人生の機微をつたえ、今を生きることを深くしてくれます。孤独を味方にしている人たちの弱さが、ちからとなる瞬間に立ちあいつづけ、どれほど励まされたことか。
2024年12月、あいりん労働福祉センターのまわりで強制執行が行われ、建て替えへと進んでいくことでしょう。1970年の大阪万博を支えた労働者の街がまた変化します。
わたしたちはこの数年、センター跡地に釜ヶ崎の記憶と記録を抱え、未来へ手渡す、今を生きるための創造や対話、交流が生まれ、働きあうアートセンターをつくりたいと声をあげています。けれど、実現の兆しはみえません。
釜ヶ崎は生きること働くことを深く考えるまち。近隣で急増する外国人の人たちと言語をこえて交流したり、旅人と地域の人々が経験をともにする機会と場をつくっていきたいと考えています。
ここに宣言します。
あきらめへんで。釜ヶ崎アートセンター。

Profile
It has been open since 2012 in Kamagasaki, Nishinari Ward, Osaka City. It is run by the NPO Cocoroom. The town of Kamagasaki is like a university, and with the motto "if there are people who want to learn together, that's the university," it holds around 80-100 courses a year in subjects such as astronomy, aesthetics, and choral singing at various local facilities. In recent years, with the aging of Kamagasaki's residents, it has focused on memories and records, and operates as a "place for encounters and expression." It also provides courses at nearby high schools and junior high schools, and holds collaborative courses with Osaka University.
In 2019, with the help of Hasuoka, who has been digging wells for Peshawar-Kai, and under the guidance of former day laborers in Kamagasaki, 700 people including children, travelers, and refugees dug a well with shovels. With the rebuilding of the Airin Labor Welfare Center in front of JR and Nankai Railway's Shin-Imamiya Station, they are imagining building a "Kamagasaki Arts Center" at this location.
