"Art & Impact: Thinking about the Post-Expo World with Innovators" vol.14

This was the 14th time the event was held, and we welcomed Mr. Terumi Yamaguchi, Mayor of Minato Ward, Osaka City, as our guest to explore the theme of "social impact" that we expect from the Osaka Kansai International Art Festival 2025.

You can watch the event on the official YouTube channel.

<Excerpt from Terumi Yamaguchi's comments at the event>

About the theme of the Expo: "Designing a bright and vibrant future society"
"What do you think it means for life to shine?" I keep asking this question to both children and adults. Without "life" nothing can begin. That is why disaster prevention, crime prevention, welfare, and protecting mental and physical health are the first and foremost prerequisites.
And life cannot shine alone. It shines only when it connects, converses, and interacts with others. The Expo site itself is a testing ground for future society. Our city will also change as part of that. We should be able to turn aging into an advantage. An aging town is not a bad town; we should create a place where the elderly can play an active role, interact with children, and connect with people from new countries. I hope that we can show this kind of town through the Expo.

About "Social Impact"
The 1970 Expo was an Expo that sent a message to the general public that "an amazing future is coming!". I think it was an Expo of that era, with everyone working together to accelerate economic growth.
However, I think that the "social impact" will be a major key to this Expo. We are currently facing a variety of issues in our society. Environmental issues, declining birth rates in some countries, and many other social issues. That is why I think this Expo will be a place where we can all pool our wisdom to find ways to solve these issues.
I'm really looking forward to the exhibits, but I also feel that it's important that we don't end there; we also want to implement the ideas and systems that emerge from the Expo in the real city.
