African Art Exhibition Opening Event will be held on Monday, October 21st! "Art & Impact: Thinking about the Post-Expo World with Innovators" vol.11
As part of the "TEAM EXPO 2025" program/Co-Creation Challenge, Daisuke Suzuki, CEO of ARTLOGUE Inc., which is hosting the "Osaka Kansai International Arts Festival" with the theme of social impact and aiming to establish "Osaka as an International City of Arts," will be welcoming guests active not only in the arts and creative fields but also in a variety of other genres.
Through the activities of our guests, we will consider the kind of society we want to aim for after the 2025 World Expo and the possibilities that art holds.
The 11th event will be held on Monday, October 21st at the opening event of the "African Art Exhibition"
The " African Art in Kyoto 2024" exhibition , which will be held at the Kyoto Imperial Temple Sennyuuji from Tuesday, October 22nd to Tuesday, October 29th, will feature contemporary African art and video works that transcend the boundaries between Japan and Africa.This year's EXPO PLL Talks will be held as part of the opening event program.
African art, born in the African continent, which can be said to be the source of diverse cultures, will play an important role in connecting the hearts of people from diverse countries across borders and co-creating a future society in which life shines, looking towards the World Expo year of 2025 and beyond.
We will consider the question, "Can art change society?" together with Oussouby Sako, chairman of the African Art Executive Committee, and Takayuki Sakakida, chairman of the Kyoto Shinkin Bank, which is involved in various initiatives for "rich communities" in Kyoto.

*The program will include a talk event by contemporary artist Serge Mouang, a short film screening by Chike Nwofia, EXPO PLL Talks, and a light snack reception.

Oussouby SACKO
Born in the Republic of Mali. Came to Japan in 1991 and completed his doctoral studies in architecture at the Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University in 1999. PhD (Engineering). Specializes in spatial anthropology. After serving as professor and dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Kyoto Seika University, he was appointed president of the university in April 2018 (until March 2022), and is currently in his current position.
From a perspective that is familiar to everyday life, he advocates a society that accepts diverse values.
He currently serves as Vice Chairman, Director and Senior Advisor of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition.
Takayuki Sakakida (SAKAKIDA Takayuki)
Chairman of Kyoto Shinkin Bank. Born in Kyoto City in 1960. Graduated from the Faculty of Foreign Studies at Sophia University in 1984. Joined the Export-Import Bank of Japan (now the Japan Bank for International Cooperation). Joined Kyoto Shinkin Bank in 1985 and became a director in the same year. Became managing director in 1996 and managing director in 2006. Became chairman in 2018, a position he holds to this day. His grandfather, Kizo Sakakida, was chairman of Kyoto Prosperity Credit Union, the predecessor of Kyoto Shinkin Bank. Three generations, including his father, Kiyoshio, have served as heads of Kyoto Shinkin Bank.
*The correct spelling of the Sakakida family name "Sakaki" is "God" with a wood radical.
Suzuki Daisuke
CEO of Artlogue Inc., General Producer of Study: Osaka Kansai International Arts Festival.
Born on Culture Day, November 3, 1977. After participating in a research project at the Global COE of the Osaka City University Urban Research Plaza, he started his own company. He won the Good Design Award in 2014, was a finalist in the Kyoto University GTEP Program (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) in 2015, and received the OIH Award for Global Innovation at the Miraino Pitch Business Contest (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Kinki Regional Bureau) in 2016.
"Study: Osaka Kansai International Art Festival" will be held from 2022, with the aim of creating the world's largest "Osaka Kansai International Art Festival" on the occasion of the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo.
