Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1948, he worked in various jobs after graduating from junior high school before moving to Kamagasaki in 2013. Inspired by a book on Western mechanical dolls he picked up in the library around 2014, he began self-studying and creating mechanical dolls. He is nicknamed "Dr. Karakuri" for his ability to create humorous and complex movements using everyday materials such as cut-up shapes from empty beer cans he has drunk himself.
