About "Study Meeting: Art & Impact, Where are we (the Earth) Going?"

"Study: Osaka Kansai International Art Festival 2025" is one of the world's largest art festivals, taking advantage of the 2025 World Expo as an opportunity to approach social issues through culture and art (= social impact). During the festival, a multi-layered program based on the theme of "social impact" will be developed, aiming to "study" (verify and learn) the relationships and possibilities between art, people, and society.
This art festival, which will be the fourth since the pre-event in 2022, will host a symposium as a forum for international dialogue and co-creation centered on art, and has positioned this as one of the important programs of the festival.

This program aims to create a forum for illustrating the image of next-generation society by addressing global issues through transdisciplinary* discussions that cross different fields, such as art, science, technology, and anthropology. It also aims to explore the potential of art as intellectual infrastructure for envisioning future society in collaboration with five organizations, including universities and research institutes.

*Transdisciplinary: Research that transcends the boundaries of academic fields and emphasizes collaboration involving not only researchers from different fields but also stakeholders in society, in order to achieve more practical goals such as solving social problems.
