プレスリリース/press 2024-07-23

In 2025, when the World Expo will be held, the "Study: Osaka Kansai International Arts Festival" will be held as a joint Japanese-Korean international art fair

Study: Osaka Kansai International Art Festival has been held three times since 2022 as a pre-event to verify the feasibility of holding a large-scale art festival with the theme of "social impact", which means revitalizing culture, arts, and the economy and bringing social issues to light, in the wake of the Osaka-Kansai Expo in 2025. In 2025, when the Expo will be held, it has been decided that art exhibitions will be held in various locations throughout the Osaka-Kansai Expo "EXPO 2025", which will be held for 184 days from Sunday, April 13, 2025 to Monday, October 13, 2025 (organized by the Osaka Kansai International Art Festival Executive Committee (within Art Rogue Co., Ltd.)). As one of these, the international art fair "Study × PLAS: Asia Art Fair" will be held in Osaka City from Sunday, July 20 to Wednesday, July 23, 2025. "Study × PLAS: Asia Art Fair" is a comprehensive art and creative fair jointly held by Japan and Korea to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and to coincide with the Osaka-Kansai Expo in 2025, with the aim of building a future-oriented relationship between the culture and arts of Japan, Korea, and the rest of Asia. The fair's title "Study" reflects the will to continue to seek new frontiers and not be satisfied with the status quo.

The scale will be expanded to utilize multiple floors of the Osaka Prefectural International Conference Center (Grand Cube Osaka), designed by Kisho Kurokawa.

The venue will be larger than ever, occupying multiple floors of the Osaka Prefectural International Convention Center (commonly known as Grand Cube Osaka), located in Nakanoshima (Kita-ku, Osaka City), a symbol of the water metropolis of Osaka where many cultural facilities are lined up. Since its establishment in 1999, designed by Kisho Kurokawa, it has been the stage for major international meetings such as the G8 Summit (2000), the Summit Finance Ministers' Meeting (2008), and the G7 Trade Ministers' Meeting (2023).

This exhibition is being held jointly by Artlogue Inc. and Plastic Art Seoul (commonly known as PLAS), a contemporary art fair that was established in South Korea in 2016. PLAS is positioned as South Korea's largest plastic arts art fair, bringing together a variety of plastic arts, including three-dimensional sculptures as well as two-dimensional works.

Further expanding and co-hosting the NFT art conference "TOKYO SOLID"

"Study × PLAS: Asia Art Fair" will be held in collaboration with NOX Gallery, a distributor specializing in NFT art, which holds exhibitions and sales events for NFT art not only in Japan but also around the world. As an expanded version of the NFT event "TOKYO SOLID," which has been a big hit overseas in countries such as France, Dubai, and Mexico, the fair aims to be the largest NFT art conference ever held in Japan, bringing together top-class NFT artists. It will be a new-age art fair where art galleries, jointly invited by Japan and Korea, and NFT art from around the world come and go.

The public will begin accepting applications for participating galleries in late July 2024.

More details will be posted on the official website of the Osaka Kansai International Arts Festival (the website is scheduled to be released in late July).
