Nishinari area "Cafe Atariya" Residency Program Starts / Notice of Exhibition Change on the 2nd Floor of Kissa Atari-ya

Starting on Tuesday, July 15th, Taipei-based artist Wu Chi-Yu will begin a residency in the Nishinari area.
He will be staying for about three weeks until early August, during which his main activities will be conducting research on Japan's past National Industrial Expositions and the history of the camphor and celluloid industries.

Wu Chi-Yu
A Taipei-based multimedia artist working with film, video installations and photography. He delves into the lost and unestablished connections between species, environments and the technologies that construct human civilization, exploring Asia's complex historical geography and the interdependence of various entities through multiple narratives. His work has been exhibited and screened at the Times Art Museum (Guangzhou, 2021), MoCA (Taipei, 2020), the 2018 Shanghai Biennale, the 2016 Taipei Biennale and the Beijing International Short Film Festival (2017), and he was a resident artist at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (2014-2015). He is a member of the Taiwanese artist collective Fuxinghen Studio and co-founder of the project Pailang Museum, which focuses on decolonization research in video.

Due to the start of Wu Chi-Yu's residency, the cafe area and second floor will be closed on Wednesday, July 16th due to exhibition changeover.
We are planning to release His video work "The Story of Celluloid - Information on Terra Nullius, Chapter 4."
*The cafe area and exhibition space on the 1st floor are open to the public free of charge.
Additionally, we will be holding related events, including workshops and talk events, so please look forward to these as well.
