
Notice of changing exhibition of Saul Chan Htoo Sang on the 2nd floor of "Kissa Atariya" in Nishinari area

Study: Burmese artist Saul Chan Htoo Sang, who has been in the Nishinari area since April 1 as part of the Osaka Kansai International Art Festival 2025 program, is nearing the end of his stay.
Saul Chan Htoo Sang's exhibition (on the second floor of Cafe Atariya), which uses rare Chin ethnic textiles, will close on Sunday, May 11th. From May 14th to July 13th, an exhibition will be held to showcase his work and trace the history of the projects he has carried out in Nishinari.
Therefore, due to the exhibition change, admission to the cafe area and second floor will be closed on Tuesday, May 13th.
*The cafe area and exhibition space on the 1st floor are open to the public free of charge.

Please also visit YOYAMAY, the family business run by Sawchan Toussan, which continues to sell traditional textiles of the Chin and other highland communities.
*Half of the sales amount will be used to support the recovery efforts in Myanmar after the earthquake.

Saul Chan Htoo Sang
Saul Chan Htoo Sang (b. 1998) is an independent filmmaker from Yangon, Myanmar, belonging to the indigenous Chin/Zaw people of the highlands of Myanmar/Burma. In 2017, she graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa, USA, majoring in Ethnography and Media Studies, approaching documentation through interdisciplinary practice. Her first documentary film, Underneath My Chin, will be screened at the Wathann Film Festival in Myanmar and the Independent Cinema Office in the UK in 2020 and 2022, respectively. She currently works as a freelance filmmaker in Chiang Mai, Thailand, for local film and arts organizations.
