[Held on Sunday, October 5th] NISHINARI YOSHIO | A Fashion Show: Designing Future Society for Our Lives

A fashion show by participating artist NISHINARI YOSHIO (Nishio Miya + kioku Handicraft Museum "Tansu") from the Nishinari area will be held on Sunday, October 5th.
NISHINARI YOSHIO is an art project that has been running since 2018, implementing collaborative work between artist Yoshi Nishio and elderly local women who attend kioku Handicraft Museum "Tansu," a creative space mediated by handicrafts, into society as a fashion brand. Using the unexpected disconnect between Nishio and the women as one of its concepts, the project proposes workwear as clothing for everyday life, with the aim of establishing a place in the local community where anyone can be involved in clothing production.
This will be the first time that "NISHINARI YOSHIO" will hold a fashion show. Specifically, the show will be held at a local community center, and participants in "Tansu," including elderly people, immigrants from overseas, and international students, will serve as models. By incorporating clothing that has been created so far and items made in workshops, the fashion show will express the realization of a symbiotic society in which no one is isolated through the combination of art and welfare.
