Guest Introduction

Kamiji Ichitaka

Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1992. Graduated from Kyoto University of Education, Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts in 2015.
Using masterpieces of the past such as sculptures and paintings as motifs, he extracts the aesthetic sense contained within them and transforms them into realistic sculptures. Through this simulation of translating masterpieces of the past, he uncovers the hidden intentions and obsessions of the artists in the portrayal of the figures. Through the exploration of the universal "beauty" present there, he attempts to communicate with the motif, its artist, and the audience who views it.
Major solo exhibitions include "Realism of Sculpture -The Place of Holiness-" (A/D Gallery, Tokyo) in 2019, "Border2.0" (Okazaki Tsutaya Books, Kyoto) in 2022, and "Incarnation" (Gallery MUMON, Tokyo) in 2023.
In 2023, he published a collection of his works, "Incarnation" (Art Diver), and a technique book, "Realistic Skin Coloring Techniques" (Born Digital).
