<Held on Sunday, April 20th> Saul Chan Htoo Sang Talk Event “AZUNG/RHIZOME”

In this artist talk, filmmaker and artist Saul Chan Htoo Sang will introduce us to the indigenous Chin/Zo peoples of Myanmar (Burma), from whom he draws his roots. In addition, there will be a screening of his first short documentary, Underneath My Chin (2020), along with an opportunity to discuss the ongoing project centered in the Nishinari area. Please join us on this journey to explore Saul Chan's roots.

Saul Chan Htoo Sang

Saul Chan Htoo Sang (b. 1998) is a Yangon-based independent filmmaker belonging to the Chin/Zaw indigenous people of the Myanmar/Burma highlands.In 2017, he studied Ethnography and Media Studies at Grinnell College in Iowa, USA, approaching documentation through interdisciplinary practice. His first documentary film, Underneath My Chin, will be screened at the Wathann Film Festival in Myanmar and the Independent Cinema Office in the UK in 2020 and 2022. He is currently working as a freelance filmmaker in Chiang Mai, Thailand for local film and arts organizations.
