Fantasy Early Music Club Concert

"If Japan had not isolated itself from the outside world and exchanges between East and West had continued, what kind of musical culture would have flourished during the Genroku period?" This is the fantasy behind the concerts that have been held since 2012 in various locations across the Kansai region (Azuchi Literary Seminar, Nakanoshima Library, Rakuraku, etc.).
The group will perform a collaboration between Western classical instruments and Japanese instruments, incorporating modern compositions and lyrics. In addition, based on the history of waka poetry being widely used in the lyrics of classical Japanese music, they will create new songs with tanka poetry as lyrics. They aim to bring back new resonance to tanka poetry, which has tended to lose its musicality since the modern era.
There will also be a live performance by a calligrapher. You will be treated to a special moment in which music and visual arts resonate together. Come experience the Showa-era modern atmosphere of the venue and the new artistic expression born from the crossroads of Eastern and Western cultures.

profile

Founded by Kitashukugawa Fushimi and Ogawa Rui, the "Fantasy Early Music Club" is working to create a new musical culture from their own unique perspectives, centering around two bases: Kitashukugawa's "Suirin Shoya" and Ogawa's "La Galassia." The club is based on the theme, "What kind of musical culture would have flourished if Japan had not isolated itself from the outside world and continued to foster exchange between East and West?"
