Profile
Born 1981 in Kyoto, Japan. She continues to work from the starting point of her fluctuating physical and spiritual identity as a Korean diaspora. Using the technique of staged photography, she expresses her own creative stories in her works. While working as a photographer, she studied traditional Korean performing arts under Korean dancer Kim Iruchi. She has been exploring new possibilities that emerge from the trauma of history and ethnic spirit inherited from generation to generation in the diaspora (displaced and immigrant communities).
Recent major presentations include “Yanbaru Art Festival 2023-24” (Ogimi Village Kinyuka Nursery, Okinawa), “World Swimming Championships 2023 Fukuoka Commemorative Exhibition: Water Asia” (Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Fukuoka), performance “Songs of the Yonghon Ashi, Dance of the Nihon Ashi” (UrBANGUILD, Kyoto, 2022) ) “Boat Walking in the Mountain” (PURPLE, Kyoto, 2020), “White Rainbow, Al's Flame” (THEATRE E9 KYOTO, Kyoto, 2020), etc.
