Mel Ramos
USA
Born in 1935, He passed away in 2018. While studying at Sacramento State University (USA), Ramos became acquainted with the Bay Area Figurative School of Art in Northern California and began painting in the Pop Art style in 1950. Ramos' artistic breakthrough began in 1963 when he exhibited in the famous "Pop! Goes the Easel exhibition" alongside Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and James Rosenquist. His paintings, prints, and sculptures all depict erotic images of pin-up girls holding various products, satirizing the frivolous and banal imagery of advertising. In a situation where the line between what is the body and what is the product is blurred, the human body has been transformed into an advertising prop.
