Born in 1953, Evan Penny graduated from the Alberta College of Art and Design in Canada in 1978. His sculptural practice explores the human body and is best known for the ultra-precise perfection of its epidermis. By stretching, shifting and otherwise manipulating his subjects' proportions, Penny creates the same distorted effects familiar from photography, television and digital images. His deformed body sculptures disorient the viewer and alert us to the changes in perception brought about by the digital media world.
