Born in 1966, Daniel Firman's work always focuses on the human figure, projecting his interest in physics, physical energy, and the relationship between movement and space. His life-size human sculptures depict people in momentary motion, and also show the effects of physical forces on the body. Characteristically, he is devoted to the realistic depiction of the human body and its movements, rather than the realistic depiction of physical parts such as the face and skin. His focus on the physical presence of the body in space evokes in people the concept of a doppelganger.
